King James Bible |
Youngs Literal Translation |
|
90:1 | LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place |
A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, a habitation Thou -- Thou hast been, To us -- in generation and generation, |
90:2 | Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. | Before mountains were brought forth, And Thou dost form the earth and the world, Even from age unto age Thou `art' God. |
90:3 | Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. | Thou turnest man unto a bruised thing, And sayest, Turn back, ye sons of men. |
90:4 | For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday |
For a thousand years in Thine eyes `are' as yesterday, For it passeth on, yea, a watch by night. |
90:5 | Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which |
Thou hast inundated them, they are asleep, In the morning as grass he changeth. |
90:6 | In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth. | In the morning it flourisheth, and hath changed, At evening it is cut down, and hath withered. |
90:7 | For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. | For we were consumed in Thine anger, And in Thy fury we have been troubled. |
90:8 | Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. | Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, Our hidden things at the light of Thy face, |
90:9 | For all our days are |
For all our days pined away in Thy wrath, We consumed our years as a meditation. |
90:10 | The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. | Days of our years, in them `are' seventy years, And if, by reason of might, eighty years, Yet `is' their enlargement labour and vanity, For it hath been cut off hastily, and we fly away. |
90:11 | Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. | Who knoweth the power of Thine anger? And according to Thy fear -- Thy wrath? |
90:12 | So teach us to number our days, that we may |
To number our days aright let `us' know, And we bring the heart to wisdom. |
90:13 | Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants. | Turn back, O Jehovah, till when? And repent concerning Thy servants. |
90:14 | O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. | Satisfy us at morn `with' Thy kindness, And we sing and rejoice all our days. |
90:15 | Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. | Cause us to rejoice according to the days Wherein Thou hast afflicted us, The years we have seen evil. |
90:16 | Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children. | Let Thy work appear unto Thy servants, And Thine honour on their sons. |
90:17 | And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. | And let the pleasantness of Jehovah our God be upon us, And the work of our hands establish on us, Yea, the work of our hands establish it! |
