King James Bible

Youngs Literal Translation

13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. If with the tongues of men and of messengers I speak, and have not love, I have become brass sounding, or a cymbal tinkling;
13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. and if I have prophecy, and know all the secrets, and all the knowledge, and if I have all the faith, so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing;
13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. and if I give away to feed others all my goods, and if I give up my body that I may be burned, and have not love, I am profited nothing.
13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, The love is long-suffering, it is kind, the love doth not envy, the love doth not vaunt itself, is not puffed up,
13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; doth not act unseemly, doth not seek its own things, is not provoked, doth not impute evil,
13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; rejoiceth not over the unrighteousness, and rejoiceth with the truth;
13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. all things it beareth, all it believeth, all it hopeth, all it endureth.
13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. The love doth never fail; and whether `there be' prophecies, they shall become useless; whether tongues, they shall cease; whether knowledge, it shall become useless;
13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. for in part we know, and in part we prophecy;
13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. and when that which is perfect may come, then that which `is' in part shall become useless.
13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. When I was a babe, as a babe I was speaking, as a babe I was thinking, as a babe I was reasoning, and when I have become a man, I have made useless the things of the babe;
13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. for we see now through a mirror obscurely, and then face to face; now I know in part, and then I shall fully know, as also I was known;
13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. and now there doth remain faith, hope, love -- these three; and the greatest of these `is' love.
